Welcome to 8th Grade

You finally made it! You put the work in, put the tears in, put the sweat in, and most importantly put your minds into gear to get where you are. 8th grade is by far the most exciting year of your elementary school years. You are old enough to make decisions concerning your future, like choosing which high school you want to attend and whether or not you want to do your homework in order to pass. You are the big dogs on campus. You will be the class of 2014 in 8th grade and the class of 2018 in high school.

8th grade is not only fun, but it is also A LOT of work. This is the year you have to push yourself to complete your homework because too many slip ups will cost you a walk across the stage to receive your diploma. You must also develop a mentality of self-efficacy (My theme for all of you this year). You must BELIEVE that you can SUCCEED! This is the year when you have classes with many different people, instead of following around the same class all day. This is the year when you could make a friend that you never expected to make. This is the year with the Washington D. C. class trip (which is way worth the money). This is the year with the 8th grade banquet and you get to dress up in your best and impress all your friends. Finally, this is the year where you must say good-bye to old familiar faces and prepare yourself for another chapter in life.

Get ready for a fun-filled, but challenging year. I am VERY excited to be your 8th grade Literature teacher.

Never give up on yourself and always remember I will NEVER give up on you.
